Monument of Heroes

The Heroes’ Monument of Lythrodontas was constructed to honour the heroes Antonis Chr. Simeonides, Filios Tsigarides and Georgios Pachoularas.

It is a modern monument with marble plaques and pillars, which stands at the square of the village since 1993. The unveiling ceremony was conducted by the President of the Republic of Cyprus at the time Mr Glafkos Clerides.

Heroes

Antonis Simeonides and Filios Tsigarides were killed during the intercommunal riots of 1963-1964.

Filios Tsigarides was a police inspector and was killed in Agios Theodoros of Larnaca after a truce. Antonis Simeonides was abducted by the Turks while he was returning home from work.

Giorgos Pachoularas was killed during the Turkish invasion of 1974.
